Warriors Take a Loss, Get a Tie

Ottumwa -- The Indian Hills men's soccer team absorbed a loss, then came back to gain a tie in the opening weekend of the season.  Both contests were played on the new IHCC soccer field, located on the Ottumwa campus, adjacent to the softball field.

IHCC lost its opening match of the season to the Iowa Wesleyan JV on Friday by a 3-1 score.  Indian Hills' Terran Matteson netted the only goal for the Warriors, a score that cut the visitor's lead in half.  But Iowa Wesleyan tallied an insurance goal four minutes after Matteson's score and IWC went on to the victory.

Freshman goalkeeper Andrew Boutott stopped seven shots for the Warriors.

Indian Hills came back on Sunday and showed more firepower offensively, but had to settle for a 4-4 tie with Wentworth Academy.

Bruno Moraes was outstanding for the Warriors, scoring three goals.  His second score came five minutes after Wentworth had notched a goal to goa ahead 4-2.  Moraes cut the IHCC deficit to one goal, then tied the score late in the second half.  The two teams were then scoreless through two overtime periods.

Moraes had his first goal in the first half and Sam Tuchella of Indian Hills quickly followed with another to tie the score at 2-all.  Moraes assisted on Tuchella's goal.

Boutott had five saves in the IHCC goal.
